Hey hey, how have you all been doing? It’s been two months since I wrote my last recap, and here we are. So, what have I been up to?

  • New start, career-wise: if you follow me on all my social media, you already know this by now but if not, “I GOT A NEW ROLE!!!”. I am currently a full-stack developer at HeyMirza and so far so good, God has been faithful. It’s been a month, and despite the ups and down trying to adjust, I am more than grateful for the team and the support they give me.
  • Routines: I finally found my rhythm by switching to Notion for organization and daily/monthly planning. There is a lot of getting used to since I am a paper-and-pen kinda girl, but I love it. I have also adopted new habits such as no social media Sundays (which I have been failing terribly of late) and washing dishes in the evening.
  • Productivity: Alot of these two months have revolved around self-improvement and creating space for what I like. I have been doing a lot of Skillshare classes, not only on productivity but technical ones as well.
I have done these two classes on productivity:
NotionMasterclass (Really enjoyed this one since I am learning how I can efficiently use Notion in my day-to-day life)
Real Productivity — this is a short class on how to improve your productivity.
This is the class I am currently doing on Skillshare on GraphQL with Prisma. It’s a technical one that I am learning because of work.
Overall, Skillshare has always been my go-to when I want to learn something new and I hope to be a tutor there one day.
  • Quitting gym: On my first recap in June (ps: read it here if you haven’t) I mentioned how I started working out at the gym to keep my body active. Long story short, after we got laid off, I had to quit, and I thought I could start working out from home, but what a lie! The much I have done is swimming. Do I still want to work out? Yes, I probably need to find some workouts that excite me like dancing, walks in the morning, etc
  • Skincare: I have been intentional about this for the past five months. My skin has improved a lot. I am not a skin expert, but my simple tips are: make sure you know your skin type, get the basic products first and research about the products before use. I have been purchasing all my products from Bandari beauty, silky Kisumu and beautysquare. ke. All the accounts are on Instagram.
  • Plant mom: Saved the best for the last. I became a plant mom to five plants: monstera, calathea, a Money plant, a white rose succulent, and a palm. Two of my indoor plants have died, which breaks my heart but I am glad the rest are thriving. I also got to propagate the money plant. I plan to get more indoor plants and learn to better care for them. For now, let me mourn my babies. I also look forward to having a tiny kitchen garden since I have some space. Let’s wait and see.
  • Therapy: I went back to therapy after having an overwhelming few months. I am never scared to talk about therapy. I actually advocate for it and when I feel overwhelmed with life, I go for it. Honestly, therapy is not cheap but if you can, it’s worth the investment.
  • Book of the month: I am in chapter 3 of Atomic habit. I need to say; I am doing so poorly on my book reading. It’s been three months of reading the same book. I hope I get to finish it and give a review.
  • Movies I have loved: Have you guys watched From Scratch on Netflix?? I cried a river watching it. Definitely a must-watch!
  • Music: I have been obsessed with Chris Brown and Asake music of late on Spotify. They have been on repeat. Two different genres that make me happy.

That is it! It’s been two great months. Grateful for each one of them.
