How my productivity has changed

If you read my articles by now, you should know I recently got back to a 9 to 5. As a wife and as a full-time employee balancing can be quite hard and I have had to adjust my routine to fit my work and family’s needs. These are some things I have changed to improve my weeks and be more productive:

  • Cleaning in the evening. i.e Doing my dishes, wiping spaces at night and putting back things where they are supposed to be. It’s a minor change, but waking up to a cleaner space puts me in the right head space. It also saves me a lot of time in the morning and I can have an hour to myself.
  • Planning my week on Notion. Notion has been a game-changer for me. I have a to-do list of my week and what I would like to accomplish and routines I am trying to cultivate to increase my productivity. It has become a planner as well since everything is in one place, unlike how I had to write different things in different notebooks.
  • Multi-tasking, i.e learning a new skill while cooking or doing dishes. If you have a skill, you are trying to learn online and your time is limited, I would strongly advise you to do this. It makes it easier for you. It’s also a good time to listen to podcasts or audiobooks if you are into them.
  • Pre-plan my articles. I have been on a creative dump for so long, but lately, I plan out my articles in bullet points. That way, it’s easier to remember and write. I will be honest apart from the recaps I have written little, but brace yourselves! A lot coming up.
  • Meal prepping and grocery shopping on weekends. If you live close to a food market, take advantage of that by shopping for the week and prepping meats and grains over the weekend. Anything that can you can defrost over the week, do it! It will save you a lot of time.

The goal for me is to be as productive as I can in whatever I am focusing on as well as reduce my anxiety. At the moment, my work involves a lot of learning and I need to create time for my family as well.

I am still learning more ways and I look forward to hearing how some of you are becoming productive and maintaining routines.
