August Recap

It’s September 14th. I know 14 days late with this recap. To be honest, I have been debating if I should keep writing these recaps or not. I started with alot of excitement when I started this because, one, I had time and two, it was a way to reflect on my month and be grateful. Now I am torn between writing recaps or not. My goal was to pick up my writing habit eventually, but let me tell you, I have had three pending articles on my draft for over a month. Blame it on procrastination as well as imposter syndrome.

Let’s do this either way!

My August was great! Alot of it was spent on job hunting, and thank God I landed a role. I will talk more about it and how I got it when I start working. For now, I am excited about this new opportunity and the vision and management style for me as a woman in tech.

I have also spent alot of it working with my mentor to sharpen my skills. One thing I am grateful for is having a mentor. I always thought I didn’t need one and could navigate independently, but the day I got one, it changed my thought process and skill set as a developer. I was stuck in the junior mindset for so long because I didn’t dare to step forward without asking someone else if I was doing the right thing. With a mentor, I am learning to see the things that hold me back and let them go. It’s a fantastic place to be in, for sure.

August was a chilled month mentally as I took many road trips to unwind, spent it with family and watched lots of Netflix. I, however, made alot of poor financial decisions, which cost me, but we move.

I have been binge-watching a Korean movie on Netflix called Young Lady and Gentleman. If you don’t mind subtitles and are into romantic series, I am sure you will love this one. I am contemplating learning Korean.

I started on Atomic Habit by James Clear as my book of the month. I hope I don’t leave this one pending at some point. So far, I am enjoying reading it.

August was a lovely month, and I look forward to September being the best and celebrating September babies! Of course, you all are too many to ignore.
